Have you got a name of any famous pro athletes that can act as role models for kids? Pull the name of Andre Agassi to the top list. Andre Agassi, one of the greatest players in the tennis history sporting a hairstyle with head as smooth as a tennis clay court, had won more than 850 singles matches. He had also won 60 titles, 8 Grand Slams and a 1996 Olympic Gold Medal. Noted as the most remarkable player of his time, Andre Agassi turned pro in 1986. He was still 18 years old when he ranked 4th top tennis player in the world. A model of persistence and now a part of popular culture, Andre Agassi, on and off the court is folklore in tennis and charity works.

The children's extension of life and hope: the projects of Andre Agassi

The nation's progress starts with the children being developed as achievers. With the No Child Left Behind policy of America, Andre Agassi seeks to fulfill his own version of the No Child Left Behind reality. He seeks to supplement the program on his own. Note that all of the programs were carefully handpicked and sustained for long years. The success of Agassi turned out not only focus on his career but ran in parallel with the lives of other children he had welcomed and supported through his foundation. Making this world a better place for children to live, we focus on Andre Agassi and his dreams in progress.

The Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation

Andre Kirk Agassi is the founder of the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation. The professional player founded the foundation in 1994. The foundation's mission is to provide educational and recreational opportunities of at-risk children. It has given hope for thousands of children to enhance character and self-esteem to be more successful in their lives. The success of the organization is made possible by the help of volunteers and donors who have willingly and wholeheartedly given their time, money and resources to fulfill the organization's goals. The organization with its limited resources, hand picked their partners and beneficiaries with the belief that supporting limited number of organizations has its greatest impact to developing and supplementing worthy programs to further their missions for at-risk youth assistance.

The Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy

Agassi Prep offers academic programs focus on individualized learning structure with the use of technology in the classroom. It has a very small classroom size but requires parent and community involvement to support the task of character building, motivation, respect and self-discipline. The academy was opened in 2001 serving the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades only at that time. The final campus development was completed in 2007. Agassi Prep is now a K-12 campus. The Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy is a charter school at the heart of Las Vegas.

The Andre Agassi Boys & Girls Club

Created in 1997, the club was designed to provide activities which are models of physical, educational and social growth. It sits on a 25,000 square foot facility complete with a library and a computer laboratory. A teen center was created to help out with the different needs of the club including an indoor club basketball court and three outdoor tennis courts. A large bulk of the foundation's money was directed to the construction, capital improvements and programs of the club. The two most active programs are Team Agassi junior tennis program and Agassi Stars youth basketball program. The aim is to tap their skills and talents to help them obtain college scholarships.

Boys Hope/ Girls Hope

Boys Hope/ Girls Hope serve underprivileged children whose parents or guardians are not capable of providing and caring for their needs. Children between the ages of 9 to 14 with problems on poverty or neglect, drug abuse or whose parents may want to care but are unable to do so, lives in this family-like environment. This is a place they call home. Agassi's boys and girls are being treated like his own children and are being taken cared of by full time staff. Donations for this community go to the food, clothing, medical and dental cost, tuition, recreational, counseling and tutoring needs. Budget disbursements also include other everyday expenses including college scholarships. When families seem to send their children to the street and has every potential to destroy their lives, Agassi picks them up and give them a loving family-like atmosphere in the Boys Hope/ Girls Hope.

Child Haven

Changing the world to a better one, Andre Agassi supported Child Haven. Child Haven opened its arms 24 hours a day to children 3 days to 18 years old who were abused or neglected. They find protection and solace in Child Haven until a safe home is found. Child Haven is located in Clark County.

Class! Publications

Class! Publication is a free teen focus monthly newsletter distributed at Clark County high schools. About 400 to 500 high school students work on its content to give it more appropriate topics for their growing estimated 40,000 current number of readers. The Publication also offers internship programs and three workshops every year. Agassi's foundation supports the cause of the children and is determined to influence the lives of the youth for their personal career development and growth.

Cynthia Bunker and Joy McClenahan Memorial Scholarships

This was named in memory of Andre Agassi's childhood friend Cynthia Bunker. Joy McClenahan was said to be a dedicated volunteer and long time supporter of the organization. The scholarship is intended for those who are enrolled in the College of Fine and Performing Arts in the University of Nevada.

Greater Las Vegas After-School All Stars

The organization aims to provide free programs to children belonging to low-socioeconomic communities. These programs keep children from drugs and other negative influence in life they may get from their immediate environment. The program is designed to coach and teach life skills. Andre Agassi had figured it out. To be productive and an achiever, there is the urgency to help develop the confidence and build the self esteem of these children.

I have a dream foundation

The mission is to help these "Dreamers" slowly progress in their dreams to being successful individuals. The organization acts as their backbone giving academic support, personal and cultural experience and related recreational activities.

Las Vegas Philharmonic Youth Concert Series

Las Vegas Sun Camp Fund

A summer camp experience for underprivileged deserving students! This fun, socially enriching program has already benefited children ages 8 to 15 coming from foster care of single parent families since 1970.

Operation School Bell

Thank you for helping these children. The new wardrobe ultimately gives them the confidence and the interest to stay in school.

Born in Basel, Switzerland in 1987, Ana Ivanovic is a 6′1 star of tennis. When she was just 5 years old, Ana fell in love with tennis after watching Monica Seles on television. She pleaded with her parents to allow her to take tennis lessons, to which they agreed and bought her a tennis racquet for her birthday. Her training years were less than ideal due to NATO bombings in 1999. She starting having practices in the morning to help avoid the chaos and even started training in an abandoned swimming pool during the winter months due to a lack of facilities. Ana  turned pro in August of 2003, debuting on the ITF Circuit. In 2004, she finished in the Top 100, making the largest ranking jump of any player that year. She also reached the final of the Junior Wimbledon tournament in that same year. Her first break through performance occurred when she took Venus Williams to two tie breaks, until eventually losing in the Zurich Open in Switzerland.

Brief Tournament History

Ana won her first career singles title in 2005, playing in Canberra Australia. She continue her wins after defeating Svetlana Kuznetsova, Vera Zvonareva, and Nadia Petrova who were all considered top 10 players. She reached the quarter finals of the French open in that same year, losing to Petrova.  Moving on, Ivanovic reached the semifinals of the 2005 Zurich Open and Generali Ladies Linz, both tournaments she lost to Patty Schnyder. In 2006, Ivanovic played tournaments in Australia, Warsaw, and Berlin. She also progressed to the third round of the French Open and the fourth at 2006 Wimbledon. After suffering several defeats in 2006, Ivanovic made a breakthrough win when she defeated Martina Hingis, a former World Number 1, in the final of the Montreal Rogers Cup. She went on to win the United States Open series ahead of Maria Sharapova and Kim Clijisters. She lost the US Open to Serena Williams.

Shortly after playing the US Open, she had to recuperate from a recurring injury affecting her right shoulder. Her return happened in Linz and she made it to the quarterfinals before she lost to Sharapova.

Ana also played nine additional tournaments in doubles, teaming up with Maria Kirileno and Sania Mirza. Ana ended 2006 placing at World Number14 in rankings herself and at World Number 51 in doubles. Ivanovic started 2007 with three tournaments in Australia, being defeated in all three. Shortly after the losses, Ana fired her coach David Taylor. As the year progress, she went into the French Open with a 6 match winning streak, ultimately being defeated. She was later forced to withdraw from the Serbian Fed Cup and the US Open due to a knee injury she sustained at Wimbledon. Upon her return she played and won the East West Bank Classic in California and increased her ranking to a career high World Number 4. It was in 2008 that Ana finally defeated Venus Williams for the first time in her career. Ultimately, she was defeated by Sharapova but her ranking rose to World Number 2 during the tournament performance.

In recent months, Ana has been once again plagued by an injury, this time a tear in her thigh, which isn't thought to keep her out of the next series of tournaments. As a player, Ana likes to play on all surfaces and her best shot is considered to be her forehand. Personally, she admires Federer for his professionalism both in and out of the game. She is also superstitious in that she will not walk on the lines of the court and she will dine at the same restaurants during her tournament stays. Ana is fluent in Serbian, English, and some Spanish.

It doesn't take much imagination to answer this question with a resounding Yes! Only 22 years of age, she has already reached the WTA ranking of no.3, and is officially number one in the women's singles race. How does she do it, especially since in her short seven year career as a Pro she has endured (and overcome) injuries to her ankle, right shoulder, lower back, and most recently, pain in her neck.

"When we go on court, it's like we're going on a war" -- Jelena Jankovic Like many young Serbian (and Croatian) tennis stars, Jelena grew up surrounded by a terrible war. JJ has said that she believes this is what gives them their 'fighting spirit'. Finding a place to practise was a real problem, not only during the war, when they had to practise very early before the bombings, but also in winter. Jelena recalls when she use to have to practise in her winter gloves, hat, and jacket, and this was indoors! Both her and her compatriot, Ana Ivanovic, practised in a drained Olympic sized swimming pool. It was carpeted, and because the wall was only 18 inches from the sidelines, cross-court play was nearly impossible, forcing the young players to play down the lines.

"I always give my best, and I fight until the end" -- Jelena Jankovic Jelena's hard work paid off when the great tennis coach, Nick Bollettiieri, recognized her talent and invited her to attend his boarding school tennis academy in Bradenton, Florida. The alumni of this prestigious tennis academy reads like the Who's Who in ATP and WTA tennis. But in early 2006, Jankovic nearly did give up after nine consecutive first round match defeats. She was already a part-time student at the Megatrend University in Belgrade, studying business administration and was considering dropping her WTA touring to study full-time. Thankfully for women's tennis, she changed her mind, but she still keeps an eye on her future and is still part-time student.

"It helps me to stay relaxed to smile on-court." -- Jelena Jankovic This ability to go out and really enjoy her game might be the key to her success. It was noticed by the world's media that she was laughing and giggling on her chair prior to her recent match against Venus Williams. Venus was somberly reading her match notes. Jelena's family, friends, and colleagues are very important to her, and this might also be a big advantage.

"No better way to finish a rainy day than with a big smile, watching Serbian comedy on TV." -- Jelena Jankovic It's hard to imagine how such fantastically determined, world-class athlete could be so, let's say, normal. Like many women her age, she loves the latest fashion in women's tennis clothes, her favorite brand being Reebok. That doesn't mean she is frivolous; She recently complained that the Italians were only concerned with her make-up and hair, but not about her backhand. During one of her recent matches in Rome, there were wolf-whistles when she bent down on-court to tie her shoes in her white tennis skirt. But really, who could blame them?

"I'm a girl...." -- Jelena Jankovic She's much more than a girl, and then again, she isn't. With her outgoing personality, and her ever cheerful attitude, she is a brilliant role model for young women everywhere. It is heartening that many such young WTA Stars are performing so well, but the 'Golden Girl', Jelena Jankovic, seems to be sparkling the shiniest.

1. Height

There are 3 different heights of snowboards; short, medium and long. A short board will come somewhere between you're collar bone and you're chin. Short snowboards are easy to ride on; so many people prefer them for learning on. Short snowboards are also great for people who like to do a lot of tricks. A medium board will be anywhere between you're chin and you're nose. Intermediate riders prefer medium boards, but so do certain advanced riders who like to ride on different types of terrain. Long boards will be from eye level to above you're head and are used by advanced riders who are looking to get a lot of high speed carving. Long boards are excellent for deep powder snow and mountains.

2. Width

The width of you're snowboard will relate directly to the size of you're feet. If you're feet are long you will need and wide snowboard, if you're feet are small you will need a narrower one. When standing on a board, you're feet should meet the edge of the bored or you're toes should only hang slightly over. If you're feet are hanging off you're bored, you risk the chance of you're boot catching on the snow while you ride. As well, if you're feet are much too small for you're board, you are not going to be able to get the amount of control you need to direct you're board. Snowboards and Gear [http://www.winter-gear-online.info]

3. Type of snowboard

Before you purchase a snowboard you will want to decide which type of board is right for you. There are three types of snowboards, which are freestyle, free ride and free carve. Freestyle is the most popular type of board today. Freestyle boards are great for doing jumps, tricks, rails and half pipes. A freestyle board is relatively short, and made for soft boots who are designed specifically for doing tricks; most boarding competitions are based around the freestyle board. A free ride board is perfect for people who like open terrain such as the mountains, trees and powder shoots. Free riding is where the pros show what they are really made of. Free ride boards are generally longer than freestyle boards, but they also use a soft boot. If you're not sure what kind of boarding you prefer or if you like doing everything, this is a great, versatile board for you. Free carve boards are often overlooked in the world of snowboarding. Specifically made for speed and carving, these boards use a hard boot and a long stiff board. Used on packed snow, there is generally little or no jumping involved in this style of boarding. This is a popular Olympic sport in which the riders swing around flags or poles.

www.RudyMayer.com - Your Nashua, New Hampshire Realtor The self-proclaimed "Gate City" Nashua lies just north of the Massachusetts border and follows the western bank of the Merrimack River. New Hampshire's second-largest city has twice been named "Money' magazine's "Best Place to Live in America," and is the only city in the country ever to win this honor twice. A low crime rate also recently found Nashua ranked as the 27th safest city in the entire United States. Low unemployment coupled with excellent schools and up-to-date healthcare facilities were all reasons cited for this ranking in 1987 and 1997. These and many other great features make this city of 83000 an excellent community in which to live and work. The village of Nashua was an early textile center. By 1836, Nashua Corporation had built three cotton mills and was producing 9.3 million yards of cotton cloth annually on 710 looms. The city of Nashua was chartered in 1852, and before the Civil War, railroad lines crossed the city with 56 trains entering and departing daily. After World War 11, the textile mills moved south and the city gradually developed a diversified industry, particularly high technology and retail. Since a commercial development boom in the 1980's, the city has served as a shopping mecca with several malls and plazas for those fleeing Massachusetts sales taxes. Not to be outdone, downtown Nashua hosts several seasonal festivals and parties, a myriad of activities from evening concerts at ...

The concept of jet skis came up in 1973 when the Kawasaki Motor Company used it to name a personal watercraft. In the early 1960s a company by the name of Bombardier made a similar model. A jet ski is basically motorized transport over water in a small craft. The use of this model is regulated by the governing body of the country and is generally for amusement rather than any kind of transportation. Mostly they have found it to be useful to lifeguards at beaches and rescue squads.

The Kawasaki craft has the brand name Jet Ski and all models have safety standards they must conform to. It runs on the concept of ejecting water from the back of the craft and has planing speeds. Since water is ejected under water the surrounding stationary water absorbs the movement, propelling it forward. The earliest design of jet boats was in 1931 by Secondo Campini, an Italian inventor in Venice, although the original design is claimed to have come from Sir William Hamilton. The largest jet-propelled vessels are frigates in South Africa.

The companies manufacturing jet skis and jet boats are the Kawasaki Motor Company, Hamilton Jet Designs, Bombardier of Canada, American Honda Motor Co. Inc., Polaris Industries Inc. and Yamaha Motor Corp. The title of "jet boat capital"goes to Queensland, New Zealand.

Some of the best waters to indulge in this sport are Arizona, Queenstown, and all the major beaches of Thailand. This sport provides hours of fun and the thrill of speed, although it is not without its dangers.

The pocket hole jig is a familiar and popular tool to all woodworking enthusiasts.  It is a tool used for making pocket hole joints to join wood together.  The Kreg Tool Company of Huxley, Iowa revolutionized this indispensable tool with its introduction of the Kreg Pocket Hole Jig.  Here is the history behind The Kreg Jig Pocket Hole System, the company and its founder.

Out of pure necessity, Craig Sommerfeld a tool and die maker, created his first tool the "Craig's Jig" in 1986.  This was a single-hole pocket hole jig made from steel and aluminum.  Seeing the potential of his tool, Craig founded The Kreg Tool Company and revolutionized pocket hole joinery.  Today Kreg Tool is the leader in Pocket Hole Technology with its simple solutions and variations of the pocket hole jig.

In the 90's numerous new tool innovations and upgrades were made.  The Single-drill guide M1 Kreg Jig had been made available and the Two-drill guide M2 Kreg Jig was introduced.  Because of the demand the K2 Kreg Jig was also introduced.  The DK100 machine was developed for the custom cabinet and furniture shops and the portable Rocket Jig was patented. The Single drill guide Mini Kreg Jig, an entry level tool great for repairs and space constrained applications was brought out in 1998.

The 21st. Century brought automation and diversification to the Kreg product line.  The Kreg Jig K2000 ProPack, the second generation Kreg Jig, the Mini Kreg Jig and Rocket Jigs were launched. The DK1100 single-spindle machines and the DK3100 three spindle machine enter the market place. The 4 and 5 spindle DK4100 and DK5100 machines, designed to drill pocket holes in cabinet sides, stairs, and drawer box components, came out a year later. Product diversification was made with the addition of the Precision Miter Gauge, Precision Band Saw Fence, and Precision Trak and Stop Kit all designed to make cutting wood more accurate.

In 2005 the third generation jig or the Kreg K3 Jig and the Kreg Jig K3 master System was introduced. The tool contains the latest in Pocket Hole Technology including interchangeable drill guide design, front side clamping, Face Clamp, Portable Base, Drill Guide Spacer, Spacerdust collection, infinite upright adjustment, material support stop, and Instruction Manual

While pocket hole jigs have been used by the woodworking industry for many years, The Kreg Jig Pocket Hole System has simplified pocket joinery by its history of innovations and consistent improvements.

Knowing history of the sport you are interested in never hurts. If you are thinking about getting into tennis here are somethings that you maybe interested in knowing.

It's a sport that has been played for hundreds of years. It is thought that possibly European monks created the game. There were many different forms of racquets used and the ball also evolved with the racquet. The game was very well liked among the monasteries in Europe, but at one point the church thought about banning the game.

Major Walter C. Wingfield patented equipment and rules for a game very close to the game of tennis we play today. That same year tennis courts were made in the U.S. The year after that equipment could be found in many countries.

Because croquet was a popular game at that time, people took the croquet courts and set them up for tennis.

The first Wimbledon tournament was held in 1877. The court was a bit different from the court that is used today. The rules were basically the same as they are today though.

In the 1930's the game of tennis became rather chic. The outfits for tennis were a little different from what is commonly worn today. The outfits were longer and more constricting. Shorts were not worn in the game until 1933 by Bunny Austin.

Throughout the times there have been many champions in the game of tennis. The game became so popular that in 1986 the yellow ball was introduced for the first time to make the balls easier to see on television!

Thanks to the wide coverage that television and other media gives to the game, tennis is now one of the most popular sports. How does one define the game? It is a game played with racquets and a light ball between two players. The players stand on opposite sides of a net placed in the center on a rectangular court that may be made of grass, clay or asphalt. It can also be played between two teams of two players.

Racquetball, a variation of the game, is played in an indoor court with a specially marked floor and high walls off which the ball must be played.

Tennis has a long history, and according to records available, its establishment can be traced to two separate incidents. In 1859, Major Thomas Henry Gem, a solicitor, and his friend Batista Pereira, a Spanish merchant, were living in Birmingham, England, and played a game that they termed "pelota" after a Spanish ball game. It was played on a lawn. This later came to be known as tennis, and in 1874 they formed the Leamington Tennis Club, which laid out the rules of the game. It was on 23 July 1884 that the first tennis tournament was held on the grounds of Shrubland Hall.

Meanwhile, in December 1873, Major Walter Clopton Wingfield devised a similar game to entertain his guests at a party on his estate in Wales. It is believed that his version was adapted from an older sport of indoor tennis or royal tennis that had been invented in 12th century France.

The world tennis comes from the French word "tenez," an imperative form of the verb "tenir" which means "to hold." This, apparently, was a cry used by the player who was about to serve the ball. The players or the teams, depending on whether it is a "singles" or a "doubles" match, stand on opposite sides of the net.

One player is the server and the opposing player is the receiver. The server serves the ball, which is returned by the receiver. The ball has to go over the net into the service court opposite the server's. If the ball hits the net but lands in the service court, it is a void service. The server then gets a second chance. A proper service starts a rally in which the players alternate hitting the ball across the net. The first player or team that fails to return the ball loses the point.

The points in tennis are called love, 15, 30, 40, deuce and advantage. Love indicates zero. If a player wins a fourth point before his or her opponent has won three points, then that player wins the game. If both the players win three points (40-all), the score is "deuce." A player must win two points in a row to win the game. The first point won after a deuce is called advantage, but if that player loses the next point then the score returns to deuce.

The first player to win six games wins the set, but he has to be ahead by two games. If the score reaches 6 - 5, then the winning player must win the next game. If the score reaches six games all, it is called a tiebreak.

Some of great tennis players include John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Ivan Lendl, Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf and Monica Seles.
